time to study

30 mei 2016 - Palma (Mallorca), Spanje

Hi!

As I mentioned last time, at the end of April we went to Ibiza with Erasmus students from all over Spain. We came back on the 2nd of April and we all were so tired! Those days at Ibiza were amazing, we have seen beautiful things but most of all we partied every night. When we got back, me and my roommates all got sick because we have been eating so bad and didn’t had much sleep in Ibiza. For the first week of April, we all just went to school, had really healthy dinners and then went straight to bed. Not that much fun.. After I got a bit better, I had to do a lot for school. I had two presentations coming up and some due dates on papers I had to write, so I had a lot to do. For me, everything already started at the 19th of May. From there on I had to study a lot.

This meant that this month was actually quite a boring month. I didn’t go out or anything. One time we had a really nice barbeque with some Erasmus people at someone’s place with a great balcony that sees over the harbor, that was a great night! For the rest of the month I have just been studying, so I felt like a boring student. One thing that I think is a good thing, is that the exams are split. As I said, I had an mid-term in April already for some of my courses and now I have the final term on the rest that we have been talking about. This makes it actually easier to study, because you have to learn less. My final exam on my biggest course is only of three chapters. This course is actually divided in more, we have to do a presentation, one mid-term, one final term and a translation. With this translation I get an English text which I have to translate into Spanish, using everything that we have learned. This is actually quite a difficult thing to do, since Spanish is not my native language of course. But then it is so much nicer when you have already done all the other exams and only have to this translation, instead of studying for eight chapters and then doing a translation as well. I really like this system of having a mid-term and a final term, they do it with almost every course that I am following.

Because I only have been studying this month, there is not that much I can tell you. I haven’t explored new things or found some things that are weird to me or anything, since I was only at the university. My time here in Palma is almost over already. Next month I will go to Barcelona for a day and after that to Valencia for three days, together with three other Erasmus students. I am really looking forward to that! After this it is already time for me to go home…

While this month was all about studying, next month will be about doing some last sightseeing and enjoying the beach before I go home. More to tell next month!

Ciao
