March & La Semana Santa

31 maart 2016 - Palma (Mallorca), Spanje

Hi again,

Already another month over, times goes way too fast here! This month was ofcourse awesome again, I’ve done many things, but also had to go to school and study hard already.

Let’s begin by the beginning of the month. I decided to move out of my apartment. The main reason was actually that some of my roommates were not that nice. In the one month I lived there, I got to know them a bit better and some of them just did things I was not that happy about. One French girl gave a party at our house, which is no problem you would think. But she didn’t tell the rest of the house, which meant that we had to find out that there was a party at our home through facebook. I wasn’t home that evening, so imagine my surprise when I read on facebook there was a party at our home and everyone was invited. And because everyone was invited, everyone came to the party. By the time I got home everyone was very drunk and they started to eat my food and drink the liquor of my roommate. We decided to kick them out at around 2 PM. But this wasn’t even the worse thing of it. The worse thing was that my French roommate didn’t clean the living room for about 4 days. This meant that the living room and the kitchen was full with alcohol and food, the floor was sticky and it smelled really bad because they’d been smoking inside. And this thing of not cleaning after a party happened more than once. My other roommates were okay, but we weren’t really friends or anything. Then the opportunity came to go and live with some Dutch friends I made in the introduction week, and so I moved out. Now I live with 3 other Dutch girls and 1 German girl and it’s so much fun! We eat together every night, we do lots of nice things in the weekend, we workout together. I am so glad that I moved out!

In the second week of march I had the week off because there were exams that I didn’t have to take. Together with some other Erasmus girls we visited the castell of Bellver and we went to a place called Valdemossa. It was really nice to do some sightseeing again. This month we could also lay on the beach already, some days the weather was really nice! After this week we had to go back to school for about 1,5 week. We actually had to start studying again because there will be mid-terms in the beginning of April. Then at the 24th of March “Semana Santa” began. This is the Easter holiday in Spain, which is very religious. For me it meant that my boyfriend was finally coming for two weeks!

The Easter holiday was amazing, we did a lot of fun and nice things. The first day of the holiday we went to Megapark in El Arenal. This is a big building with no roof. They play German music there and you drink a lot. We started drinking at 11AM already, because it was free beer from 11 till 1130 AM. Then from 2 PM till 4 PM it was happy hour where you got one beer extra for free. This went on for the whole day, which was fun. The next few days we went to the beach because the weather was so nice, we could actually lay in our bikini’s! After a few days at some beautiful beaches, my boyfriend and I decided to rent a car for three days and travel around the island. This was amazing. We first went to the caves of hams, which was a big tour with some information about the caves. We went to Alcudia, where we slept for the night. From there on we went to Cap the Formentor. If you ever go to Mallorca, definitely visit this! The view is amazing, no words to describe what we saw. From that point on we went all the way back to Port de Soller, through the mountains. This road is called Serra de Tramuntana. This roads brings you to a lot of beautiful places with amazing views. Along the road are stopping point where you can make pictures. It took us about 2,5 hours because we stopped everywhere. We also went all the way up to the mountain Alaró, which was also awesome to do. After our days with the car, we also went to the football game of Mallorca against Leganes. Mallorcca actually won against leganes! This was fun to do one time.

Unfortunately the Semana Santa is already over which means normal life is starting again. In the coming month we already have some mid-terms we have to take and also our Spanish exam. Busy month!

Talk to you next month

Cynthia
